The 62th International Art Exhibition, entitled - "May You Live In Interesting Times" - is held in Venice from May 20 to November 26, 2019. The title is an expression of the English language long erroneously attributed to an ancient Chinese curse, which evokes periods of uncertainty, crisis and unrest, "interesting times" just like those we are living. The exhibition is divided between the Central Pavilion at the Giardini and the Arsenale, and includes 79 artists from all over the world. The exhibition is flanked by 90 national participations in the historic Pavilions at the Giardini, at the Arsenale and in the historic centre of Venice. There are 4 countries present for the first time at the Biennale Arte: Ghana, Madagascar, Malaysia and Pakistan. The Dominican Republic participates for the first time in the Art Biennale with its own pavilion. The Italian Pavilion at the Tese delle Vergini in the Arsenale, supported and promoted by the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, Directorate General for Contemporary Art and Architecture and Urban Suburbs, is curated by Milovan Farronato. For those who wish not only to visit the event, but also to access it from V.I.P. and take part in collateral events and prestigious networking opportunities with art experts and collectors from all over the world, it is possible to create a tailor-made V.I.P. package, with the additional possibility of organizing prestigious events within the event itself.
